Input fields decide which parts of a template the people using your published design generator can change. Everything else stays fixed. You add them with the **Add Input Field** tool.

To add one:

1. Start the **Add Input Field** tool, either from the button in the toolbar or by opening **Show Input Fields** and clicking **Add Input Field** in the drawer. Both are the same tool.
2. Select the element you want to make editable, on the canvas or in the panel on the right.
3. A popup shows the common fields for that element. For a text element, for example, you can add a field that lets users edit the text, or one that lets them pick from a set of preset texts (a dropdown menu). Choose one and click **Add Field**.

If none of the suggestions fit, click **Select Custom Property**. The popup closes, and you then click any single property in the Property Panel to connect a field to exactly that property.
