In the template editor, autosave stores your changes automatically, about one second after each change. You don't need a save command for it. Autosave is on for new templates.
How to tell that everything is saved
At the top left of the toolbar, to the right of the back arrow, is the button with the cloud. It shows the status:
- Saving: Bluepic is saving right now.
- Saved and the button is greyed out: everything is saved.
- Saved, but the button can be clicked: there are changes that are not saved yet. Autosave tries again in a moment. A click on the button saves right away.
Wait until the button is greyed out before you close the tab. If saving fails, for example without an internet connection, autosave keeps trying. Keep the tab open until the button is greyed out again.
The message “Changes could not be saved” appears?
Bluepic refused to save. The message gives the reason, for example a limit you reached or a canvas with a size the template already has. Fix the reason, then autosave saves again. Until then, your latest changes are not saved.
The preview images in your template overview are created after saving. So they can change a little later than the template itself.
Turn off autosave and save yourself
If you want to decide when to save, turn autosave off. The setting belongs to the template and applies to everyone who opens it.
- Hover over the Saved button at the top left of the toolbar. A menu with Disable Autosave opens.
- Click Disable Autosave. Autosave is now off for this template, and the button reads Save.
- Click Save whenever you want to save. This also saves the new setting. When the button is greyed out, everything is saved.
Enable Autosave in the same menu turns autosave back on. If you leave the editor with the back arrow at the top left while there are unsaved changes, Bluepic asks in the Unsaved changes popup: Save and leave saves first, Leave without saving discards the changes.
If autosave is off, click Save before you leave the editor.
Deal with “Template changed elsewhere”
Bluepic notices when someone on your team, or you in another browser tab, saves a newer version of the template. Then the notice “Template changed elsewhere” covers the editor. Autosave stops so that your version does not overwrite the newer one. You can't keep working in this tab.
- Click Reload latest version. The editor loads the latest version of the template. Changes that were not saved in this tab yet are lost. The notice tells you beforehand whether there are any.
- Look at the template. Check that the other person's changes and your own are there, and redo any of your changes that are missing.
To keep it from happening again, open a template in one tab only, and agree with your team on who is working on it.
