Product
Bluepic, operated by FellowBlue GmbH in Cologne, turns templates into design generators. Designers build in Bluepic Studio; recipients personalize approved input fields in a browser. Layout rules must be configured and tested by the template author.
Workflow
- Create a template from Empty, a preset, an IDML import or a Bluepic template upload.
- Add input fields and dynamic layouts. A template can have several canvases, each with its own elements and shared fields.
- Publish through a Web, Widget or Team campaign. For programmatic files, use Share → Automate; Automation is not a campaign type.
- Recipients choose a template and size, fill fields and download or share through enabled targets. Public generators usually need no Bluepic account; Team campaigns and optional social integrations can require authentication.
Output and access
Studio is intended for desktop use. Public generators support mobile screens. Studio controls are English; the website and help center have English and German versions.
The editor offers PNG, JPEG, GIF, PDF, SVG, MP4, MOV and WEBM. Public-generator export currently completes for PNG, JPEG, PDF, MP4 and MOV. GIF, SVG and WEBM are not working public-export choices. Animation duration is capped at 15 seconds.
Free and Pro have annual credit allowances; Enterprise follows its contract. Campaign outputs cost 1 credit, API images 0.01 and API videos 0.1, subject to the exemptions in Credits.
See Getting started and Publishing.

Template editor
Bluepic Studio offers text, images, shapes, paths, icons, Circle Image, groups and masks. Crop Mode controls Cover, Contain and Stretch. Text supports shrink-to-fit, wrapping and curved paths. Appearance includes text backgrounds and Text Frame, Text and Per Line surfaces.
Multiple canvases have separate elements and shared fields. The Anchoring tool connects edges or surfaces; Row and Column layout groups arrange children. Video properties can be animated on a timeline with a 15-second duration cap. IDML import and reusable presets provide starting points.
Input fields and logic
Text, image, logo, color, number, checkbox and selection fields expose approved values. Groups organize fields; collections supply repeatable entries; Instruction adds guidance. Fields support titles, descriptions, ordering and variable names. Auto-crop to faces is an image-field option. Remove background is an image-element property, not a field option.
Expressions use variables, element measurements and functions grouped as Math, Helpers, Logic, Color and Animation. Diagnostics flag problems in canvases and layers.
Campaigns and distribution
Web, Widget and Team are the campaign types. Web and Widget support generator themes, colors, Header Font, Label Font, Corner Radius, gallery/slider layouts, categories and default-on Field hints. Campaign Assets add ready-made files. Generate URLs imports CSV/TSV and produces personalized recipient links; replacing an import invalidates old links.
Social Connections offers verified and unverified targets, Captions, LinkedIn pre-fill, Mail, Download, Webhook, Redirect and Redact post logging. Direct publishing differs by platform. There is no Studio toggle to disable tracked links per campaign; the API has a trackLinks setting.
Account and automation
Images, Fonts and Documents are reusable libraries. Teams have member roles, private Drafts and shared folders. Analytics and the Studio Batch Editor are plan-gated. Custom domains require account enablement. Branding removal depends on plan.
Share → Automate provides image URLs and API requests. API keys live under Settings → Developer. API images cost 0.01 credit; API videos cost 0.1. Batch images cost 0.1 and batch videos 1. See Help for procedures and limitations.
Pricing model

Pricing model
Public plans are Free, Pro and Enterprise. Free and Pro allowances renew annually, on signup anniversary or subscription renewal respectively. Enterprise capacity is set by contract.
Credit rates
| Output | Credits |
|---|---|
| Campaign image or video | 1 |
| API image | 0.01 |
| API video | 0.1 |
| Batch Editor image | 0.1 |
| Batch Editor video | 1 |
Video is charged per output, not by duration or resolution. Previews are free. Authorized team/password campaign exports and watermarked outputs are exempt. Repeated campaign billing identities are deduplicated within the allowance window; templates without fields get a new identity for every export. Cached API results are not billed again.
Allowance and capacity
Free and Pro have three days of grace after exceeding credits, then watermarked public outputs. Batch generation pauses after grace. There is no automatic overage invoice. Pro admins can add sufficient credits to restore normal output. Enterprise follows its contract. There is no automatic 80% notification; Billing can show Approaching your allowance, while over-allowance notifications go to team admins except on Enterprise.
Each canvas in a regular folder counts against Templates. Drafts, Presets and Archive do not count and cannot be shared directly. Team members and Stored assets are separate limits. An account belongs to at most one team.
Pro add-ons are sold in steps of 100 credits, 5 team members, 1 canvas and 100 assets. Capacity additions are prorated; credit additions are charged in full for the cycle. Reductions apply at renewal. Discount-code applicability is shown in the purchase flow.
See Billing and Credits. Prices below are EUR excluding VAT. Ask Bluepic for Enterprise terms, service quotes and contractual commitments.

Scope of this information
Bluepic is operated by FellowBlue GmbH in Cologne, Germany. This page describes technical behavior; it does not replace contractual data-processing terms or the privacy policy. Request the applicable processor list, retention terms and transfer safeguards from Bluepic for procurement.
Access and privacy controls
Public campaigns can be used without a Bluepic account. Team campaigns restrict access through team sign-in or a campaign password. Optional LinkedIn features require authorization. API keys authenticate server requests and should be treated as secrets. Redact post logging limits personal information in verified post records; it does not disable all analytics or retroactively delete existing data.
The marketing site gates analytics initialization through consent controls and serves its fonts locally. Product analytics and account authentication have separate data flows.
Hosting and storage
Cloudflare provides delivery, backend services and storage. Hetzner handles primary still-image rendering and video rendering in the current routing. EU-pinned storage is used for original image assets, temporary upload paths and the still-image cache, but this is not a blanket EU-only claim: images can also be copied to Cloudflare Images, and the video-renderings bucket is not EU jurisdiction-pinned.
Retention differs by path. Ordinary temporary uploads have a short lifecycle, while Batch Editor uploads can use a 365-day bucket and LinkedIn post graphics can be retained long term. Do not assume every end-user upload is deleted within 24 hours.
Image processing and AI
Auto-crop to faces uses client-side face detection. Remove background is an image-element property and uses server-side processing with EU R2 storage and a Cloudflare image transform in the current production path.
For templates owned by a team or a paid account, preview images and template data are sent to Google Gemini to generate accessibility descriptions. The import flow also contains an Anthropic processing path. AI use is therefore broader than cropping and field detection. Ask Bluepic for the applicable provider configuration and contractual terms before relying on a particular AI data-processing commitment.
Other service integrations include Auth0 for authentication, Stripe for billing, PostHog for analytics, Help Scout for support and email providers. This is a technical overview, not a complete contractual sub-processor register.
Integrations and API
Current product facts and links to Bluepic help.
Website embedding
Use a Widget campaign and copy the script or iframe under Share → Embed. Make the campaign live and test the public embed on desktop and mobile. Changing its domain or URL requires checking installed embeds.
Automate and API
Use Share → Automate in Studio. Image URL produces a parameterized rendering link. URL settings select alias, canvas, format and scale. API provides generated curl requests and Send request makes a real render call.
Create keys under Settings → Developer → API Keys. Send the key in Authorization without a Bearer prefix. Keep it server-side. Images use image.bluepic.io and videos video.bluepic.io; use Studio-generated requests for methods and parameters. The API Playground is at studio.bluepic.io/dashboard. There is no Automation campaign type or campaign-level API Keys/Sandbox setup.
API images cost 0.01 credit, API videos 0.1. The same allowance also pays for campaign and batch output at their respective rates. Failed URL renders can redirect to the stored template preview, so validate content and file type, not merely an HTTP success.
Readable aliases use an account/team URL scope. Changing the scope changes all aliases in it. See Automate.
Social connections and recipient data
LinkedIn can provide verified posting and profile pre-fill. Pre-fill supports LINKEDIN_NAME, LINKEDIN_GIVEN_NAME, LINKEDIN_FAMILY_NAME, LINKEDIN_EMAIL and LINKEDIN_PICTURE. Availability depends on returned profile data and permissions. Other targets use platform-specific handoffs; a share action is not proof of publication.
Mail, Download, Webhook and Redirect are configured under Social Connections. Redact post logging limits personal post details. Tracked-link disabling is API-only, not a Studio toggle.
Generate URLs accepts CSV/TSV with up to 5,000 recipients, producing email,campaign_link. Imports replace the table and invalidate existing recipient links. See Generate URLs.
Customers and use cases
Who uses Bluepic, for what, and the outcomes and rules of thumb published on the website.
Named customers
Trade fair operators Koelnmesse, NürnbergMesse, Messe Karlsruhe, Messe München, and Messe Bremen use Bluepic for their events. International use includes FieraMesse Bolzano (South Tyrol) and Koelnmesse Inc. (USA). Event agencies tmf dialogue marketing, MEET GERMANY, and ECENT run social proof campaigns with Bluepic.
Primary use case: stakeholder-led event promotion
An organiser builds branded templates such as "Hear me speak", "Visit us at booth X in hall A", or "I'm attending", distributes them by link, widget, or a campaign link, and each speaker, exhibitor, or attendee personalises and shares their own graphic. After the event, recap, highlight, and thank-you templates follow.
Published rules of thumb:
- Set-up time: plan 1 to 3 days to get templates exactly right; a preset-based generator can go live in minutes.
- Credit planning: number of people to activate × templates per person, at a realistic 30 to 50 % usage rate. Example: 300 exhibitors × 3 templates ≈ 270 to 450 credits.
- Reach: 50 speakers with 2,000 LinkedIn connections each represent a potential reach of 100,000 professionals; 100 attendees with 400 connections add 40,000.
Other industries
- Universities: departments, students, and faculty create brand-compliant social content without involving the design team.
- Retail and franchise: store managers and employees produce localised marketing material in the corporate identity.
- Associations and NGOs: campaign toolkits for members and supporters.
Published customer quotes
- “The banner generator is a valuable addition to our exhibitor, speaker, and marketing communications. The personalized templates help us expand our reach and increase the visibility of our trade fair projects. We are very satisfied with both the technical implementation and the professional visual results.” (Kevin Scholz, Chapter Lead Marketing, Messe Karlsruhe)
- “The Bluepic platform has been instrumental in allowing us to scale customized graphic design services for hundreds of exhibitors.” (Darrin Stern, President & Managing Director, Koelnmesse Inc.)
- “Since we started using Bluepic, significantly more exhibitors and speakers post about our events. The reach we gain from this, no ad budget could buy.” (Kilian Osberghaus, CEO, ECENT GmbH)
Positioning
How Bluepic differs from design tools, brand template features, and creative automation services, and what it does not do.
What Bluepic is not
- Not a general-purpose design tool. End users do not design; they fill in a form. The design work happens once, in the Bluepic Studio, by a designer or Bluepic's implementation service.
- Not an AI image generator. Graphics are rendered deterministically from a template and the user's input. AI assists image processing and import workflows, and Google Gemini generates accessibility descriptions from eligible template previews and data. See the security and compliance topic for processing details.
- Not a digital asset management system. Bluepic is not a system of record for a brand's entire media library: there is no metadata model, versioning, rights management, or approval workflow, and plans are sized for hundreds, not tens of thousands, of stored assets. What it does offer is distribution: a campaign can hand out finished files such as PDFs, videos, or documents alongside its generators, so partners have one place for self-serve graphics and ready-made assets, with opens and downloads in the analytics.
- Not a managed creative service. Bluepic is self-serve software; the optional implementation service builds templates, it does not run campaigns.
- Not self-hosted. Bluepic is cloud-only.
Compared with shared template files (Canva, PowerPoint, Figma templates)
Shared editable files let recipients change colours, fonts, and layout, which breaks brand guidelines and produces inconsistent results. A Bluepic generator locks everything except the fields the owner exposes, adapts the layout to the content automatically, and tracks usage in the analytics dashboard. Public campaign recipients usually need no Bluepic account; team access and social connections can require sign-in.
Compared with creative automation and DAM platforms
Bluepic focuses on one job: letting large groups of non-designers self-serve on-brand graphics through generators, widgets, and an API. It is priced by a yearly credit allowance per exported graphic starting with a free plan, rather than as an enterprise-only suite, and it is operated from Germany under GDPR.
