Delete an input field

Last updated October 22, 2026

In the template editor, you delete an input field when users should no longer change something in the design generator. The elements in your design stay and keep the value the input field had last.

This takes two steps:

  1. Delete the input fields in the Input Fields view or directly at the property in the properties panel.
  2. Test the result in the design generator.

Delete the input fields

The Input Fields view shows all input fields of your template, and you delete them there.

  1. Click Input Fields at the top right of the toolbar. The Input Fields view opens.
Top right of the toolbar with the Input Fields button highlighted.
  2. Click the checkbox to the left of each input field you want to delete. The input field is now selected. If you select an input field group or a collection, you also delete all input fields inside it.
  3. Click Delete at the top. The Delete Field(s) popup asks whether you really want to delete the selected input fields. Cancel stops here.
    You can't click Delete?

No input field is selected yet. Click the checkbox to the left of an input field first.

The Delete Field(s) popup asking whether to delete the selected input fields, with the Cancel and Delete buttons.
  4. Click Delete in the popup. The input fields are now deleted. Every property that was connected to them keeps its current value as a fixed value. Users can no longer change it.
  5. Look at your design on the right of the Input Fields view and check that it looks the way you want. If it doesn't, click the left of the two round arrows at the top left. This is Undo. The deletion is now undone. Or press Cmd + Z (on Windows Ctrl + Z).
  6. Click × at the top right to close the Input Fields view.
  7. If your template has several canvases, switch to every other canvas with the canvas picker in the toolbar. Check the elements there that were connected to the input field. Deleting only gives the elements on the open canvas a fixed value.

When you delete, these rules apply as well:

  • Expressions that used the input field's value keep it as a fixed value and keep working.
  • If other input fields use the same variable, Studio deletes them too.
  • If an input field group ends up empty because of this, it disappears as well. An empty collection stays.

Delete an input field from a property

In the properties panel, you delete an input field right at the property it controls.

  1. Click the element on the canvas or in the layers panel. The properties panel shows its properties. Properties with an input field are highlighted.
  2. Hover over the property that is connected to the input field. A menu with Edit Field and Delete Field appears.
Properties panel of a text with an input field: hovering over Content shows a menu with Edit Field and Delete Field, Delete Field highlighted.
  3. Click Delete Field. What happens next depends on how many input fields use this property's variable:
    • Only one input field:
      • Studio deletes the input field right away. Every property it controlled keeps its current value as a fixed value. You're done.
    • Several input fields:
      • The Delete Binding popup opens.
  4. If several input fields use the variable, choose in the popup what to delete:
    • Delete binding: only this property is disconnected and keeps its current value. The variable and the input fields stay.
    • Delete variable: the variable and every input field connected to it are deleted.
    • Cancel: nothing changes.

Variables that no input field, element or expression uses anymore can be cleaned up all at once in the Input Fields view. How this works is explained in Variables.

Test the result in the design generator

The design generator is the page where users fill in your template and export their design. Here you see what users see after the deletion.

  1. Click Share at the top right of the toolbar and then Publish Template Link. If you have published the template before, the entry is called Open Template Campaign. Bluepic saves your template, and a popup with the share settings opens.
  2. Click Copy URL and open the link in a new browser tab. The design generator opens. On a computer, the input fields are on the left and the design on the right.
  3. Look at the input fields. Check that the deleted input field is gone and that the design shows the value the input field had last.
