Create a collection: let users add entries

Last updated October 22, 2026

In the Input Fields view, a collection creates a list that users fill in the design generator themselves: they add entries, remove them and reorder them. Every entry has the same input fields, for example name, role and photo in a team list. Collections are an advanced feature: for the design to grow with the list, you set up a repetition with expressions yourself.

This takes four steps:

  1. Create the collection in the Input Fields view.
  2. Configure the collection in the Input Fields view.
  3. Repeat an element for every entry in the template editor.
  4. Test the collection in the design generator.

Create the collection

The Input Fields view shows all input fields of your template, and you configure them there.

  1. Click Input Fields at the top right of the toolbar. The Input Fields view opens.
Top right of the toolbar with the Input Fields button highlighted.
  2. Click Collection in the bar at the top. An empty collection appears at the bottom of the list. Its header reads Collection (collection), with its variable name in brackets.

The button only works when no input field is ticked. Click every ticked checkbox to clear it. You can drag existing input fields into the collection afterwards.

Configure the collection

  1. Give the collection a heading: click Collection (collection) in the collection's header and type a heading, for example "Team". Users see it above the list in the design generator.
  2. Add the input fields every entry should have:
    • For a new input field: Click Add field at the bottom of the collection and choose a field type, for example Text. Its header shows its variable name in brackets, such as Text (text).
    • For an existing input field: Drag it into the collection by the three lines on the left of its header. Its value then applies to each entry separately. Elements you had connected to it no longer follow it. If its variable name already exists in the collection, it gets a new one.

Whatever you enter in these input fields becomes the default value of every new entry.
  3. Click the gear on the right of the collection's header. The collection's settings open. Variable name shows its variable name, for example collection. You'll need it for the design in a moment.
  4. Type into Min number of input groups and Max number of input groups how many entries users must have at least and may have at most. By default, that's 0 and 128.
  5. Click Done. The settings close.
  6. Click × at the top right to close the Input Fields view. You are back in the template editor.

Repeat an element for every entry

A collection doesn't repeat anything in the design on its own. In the template editor, you decide which element repeats for every entry and which value of the entry it shows.

  1. Click the element that should repeat for every entry, on the canvas or in the layers panel. The properties panel shows its properties.
  2. Click Iteration in the properties panel. The section expands.
  3. Click the Enabled checkbox. Length and Iteration Variable appear below it.
  4. Type the collection's variable name followed by .length into Length, for example collection.length. The element now repeats as many times as the collection has entries.
Properties panel of a selected text with the Iteration section highlighted: Enabled ticked, Length collection.length and Iteration Variable i.
  5. Look at Iteration Variable for the name of the current entry. By default, it's i.
  6. Type an expression into a property of the element in the properties panel that reads a value of the entry, for example collection[i].text. In a text property such as Content, write it as ${collection[i].text}. Every repetition now shows the value of its own entry. Longer expressions are easier to build in the expression editor, see Use the expression editor.
Properties panel of a text with the Content property highlighted: ${collectioni.text}. Next to it on the canvas three blue bars with the texts of the three entries: Opening keynote, Panel discussion, Networking.

This is how the expression is built:

  • collection is the collection's variable name.
  • i is the iteration variable. It stands for the entry the repetition belongs to.
  • text is the variable name of the input field inside the collection. You find it in that input field's settings under Variable name.

Test the collection in the design generator

The design generator is the page where users fill in your template and export their design. You can test the collection there safely: whatever you enter doesn't change your template permanently.

  1. When you are done with your input fields, click Share at the top right and then Publish Template Link. If you have published the template before, the menu item is called Open Template Campaign. A popup with the share settings opens. Your template can now be reached through a link.
  2. Click Copy URL and open the link in a new browser tab. The design generator opens. On a computer, the input fields are on the left and the design on the right.
  3. Click Add entry in the collection. A new entry with the collection's input fields opens.
Add entry or an entry's × is greyed out?

The collection has reached the highest or lowest number of entries allowed. Change the limits in the collection's settings under Max number of input groups and Min number of input groups.

  4. Type something into the entry's input fields. Check that the repetition in the design shows the value.
  5. Look at the design with no entry, with one entry and with the highest number allowed. You remove entries with × in their header and reorder them by the three lines. Check that the design works in every case.
